Google Web Toolkit now for Mac

Google CodeRecently, Google Web Toolkit was made available to Mac users. Google Web Toolkit (we’ll call it GWT from here on out) allows users to develop AJAX web applications very easily. For those of you who don’t know what AJAX is, it’s basically a combination of Javascript and XML (the stuff RSS is made out of) that allows a web page to update its content without refreshing the whole thing. This makes for a sleeker presentation, and saves bandwidth as well. Gmail is an example of an AJAX web app.

So now that Mac developers have access to these tools, what might change? I think we may start to see some web apps that combine the functionality of existing AJAX apps with the eye for design and innovation that many Mac developers possess. When you spend less time on the “How will we do this” part, you have more time for the “What should we do” planning process. That’s where the quality is born.

If your’re interested, more information on Google Web Toolkit can be found here, at its main page. There you will be able to check out some example proejects and all of the features that GWT has to offer.
