While most of us were glued to our WWDC keynote liveblogs for much of today, some were anxiously refreshing the Apple Store page, hoping for a “One More Thing” product release. So, when the infamous yellow post-it was lifted, many were shocked to see not a new Mac, but a new website.
Yes, Apple today did a full redesign of its website. The site is still organized pretty much the same way, but it has a very updated appearance. For one thing, the tabbed navigation bar at the top of the site has been replaced by a more blackish-gray glass bar (with a simplified design, featuring tabs for Store, Mac, iPod+iTunes, iPhone, Downloads, and Support), similar to what one would find in iTunes 7. In fact, the entire site follows iTunes 7’s, and what is assumed to be Leopard’s, example, with a grayish theme and horizontal scroll bars decorating the site. The site has also been updated for a more modern, Web 2.0 age, with wider pages and more AJAX-y effects, such as dynamically expanding modules on the pages.
Also, Apple updated its Leopard page with a new appearance and also new videos and information on the features and technologies of Leopard that were announced today and last year.
So, while the big news of the day is still the WWDC announcements, Apple’s new site is still worth a visit.
The web page is more wide than before, so for those that has a 12" screen and use the dock on the side will not be able to see it all, they will have to move right and left.
Also the web page includes a new nice search that give you a fast response, just as spotlight, you'll love it.
