Jumping the gun, Intel desktop style

Intel Pre-Order We don’t know the name of the Intel Power Mac replacements, but you can already place a pre-order with Silverado Systems. Pricing? Configuration? Color? (Ok, that’s far fetched, but my point is made.) He’s still letting you put your name down. According to the site:

Fill out the information below to request placement on our priority list for the new Intel Mac Towers.

No funds are needed today—we are establishing a priority list only. There is no cost to be placed in the queue. It is first come, first served.

They’re only setting up a priority list. No so exciting. They are offering one of four gifts with pre-order purchase, free 512 Mb Upgrade, free copy of Windows XP SP2, free copy of Alsoft DiskWarrior, or a free copy of Peachpit’s “Optimizing Your Final Cut Pro System”. Not a bad bonus, but I can’t shake the feeling that this is all just an elaborate marketing stunt. I plan on buying a system, but I’m not even considering putting my name down on this list.
