Inside the MacBook: one man’s journey

Posted by Dan Moren | Thursday, May 18, 2006 7:28 AM PT

Inside the MacBook Battery BayOur own Macworld editor Jason Snell is hardly a man to be content with others’ tales of exploration and derring-do; he must live these adventures first-hand. And so, though Derik posted earlier about the complete MacBook dissection, Jason decided to focus on the one particular part of the new laptop that serves as a window into the machine’s very soul: the battery bay.

Jason reports that both the RAM and the MacBook’s hard drive are upgradable from the battery bay (as Aaron had mentioned yesterday), making this one of the easiest Mac laptops to upgrade ever. But our intrepid Mr. Snell didn’t stop there; he’s provided full color video of his exploratory surgery to those of you who may be of a more prurient slant of mind.

Dan,
Do we know if changing the drive on the MacBook voids the warranty?

oh that's NICE! Too bad about that damned intergrated video... I'd be sold on it on a New-York-5th-Ave.-Apple-Store-Minute if it wasn't for that.
