Rumor site Apple Insider has learned that it is quite possible Apple will be receiving a large shipment of Core 2 Duo (“Merom”) chips in early September. These low-powered chips are not only faster than their Core Duo (“Yonah”) predecessors, but they are 64-bit. This could be a promising sign of things to come in OS X 10.5 Leopard (which will most certainly be 64-bit). Ahh, but I digress.
With WWDC right around the corner, what might Apple be doing with a large shipment of Core 2 Duo processors? Could we see upgraded MacBook Pros, MacBooks, and iMacs in addition to the practically required introduction of the Mac Pro? Who knows, but I’m all tingly!
I feel like Apple has so many things to update that it'll be hard to give them all as much attention as they deserve. Just think about all the things that are actually possible within the next year.
(Slightly less likely as you go down the list)
Core 2 Duo upgrade
OS X Leopard
New MacPro
Makeover for MacBook Pro
New Servers
iPhone
40/80GB iPod
A new desktop line/New eMac
Cinema displays with iSight
Blu-Ray
Movie iPod
Tablet-UMPC-Newton-type thing
Hybrid HDD
Then you can add all the crazy stuff that people make up that will probably never happen like OS X for PC's and touchscreen 100GB iPods.
i think that should be cool
OK, now I've soiled my pants again. My wife is complaining about this. The sooner Apple will release a MacBook Pro with a Merom processor, the sooner our cleaning bills will decrease...
I am considering a switch from PC. Is this is a good time to get an imac or a macbook pro? I dont want to buy a machine and then find an upgrade. That would suck big time. I dont mind waiting a couple of months though.
