How do you spell “slow news day”? To make up for lack of non-iPhone-related news, I’ll throw a little Apple humor your way.
First time MacBook Pro owner aberard just can’t get that darned MBP to open! He goes to the Apple Support forum for much needed assistance.
“I can’t open my new MacBook Pro. Is there a latch? I’m afraid of wrecking something by pulling or pushing,” he queries.
Granted, using a PC all these years has probably done substantial damage to his brain, this still seems a little over the top. Nevertheless, the friendly Mac community tries to help him out. To no avail. Seems there is a mysterious “grey strip” across the body of the laptop that is somehow keeping him from opening the precious piece of hardware.
Read the as-of-now unresolved thread for a good laugh, and to lower your hope for humanity just a tad bit more.

MacUser is your source for news, info, and opinion about Apple, the Mac, and the iPod. Our dedicated team of bloggers covers everything that is relevant to Mac users — and, okay, some stuff that’s not quite relevant, but is still a lot of fun.
I had a moment like this with my MB. My brother, who likes to think of himself as a 'computer expert' spent a good 2 minutes looking around it for the latch and I just sat there and watched. When he eventually asked I told him to pull it open. I enjoyed those 2 minutes :D
Aww, that story needs a proper ending!
He needs to visit the Suuuuuuper Genius bar. (Apologies to Wil E. Coyote)
My sister had the same problem with my new iBook back in the day. She needed help from a guy sitting in the Reference section of the library.
Actually the first time I saw a MacBook pro (or was it a PowerBook) at the apple store I closed it but couldn't reopen it for a few seconds that was seriously scary.I thought apple was going to make me buy a new MacBook pro from them.
I think they should give the MacBook pro a magnetic closing system like the MacBook.
What's also funny is instead of telling the poster that they are an idiot, the community really tried to be of assistance and the person was getting cocky like everyone else was wrong even though millions of MacBook Pro owners have manage the difficult task of opening their notebooks. While this knucklehead sat there dumbfounded. I didn't read through the entire thing and I know there isn't an ending but sure sounds like they where looking at the back where the hinge is of MBP the entire time. That's really sad...
You've confused the poster's "registered date" with his post's date. The thread is only a month-and-a-half old.
This would have made a great Far Side cartoon. ;-)
