John Hodgman (AKA: PC) uses iPhone on Daily Show

Posted by David Dahlquist | Thursday, March 20, 2008 3:50 PM PT

hodgman iphone.jpgJohn Hodgman, the actor best known for his role as the lovable yet clueless PC in the Apple “Get a Mac” ads, made an amusing appearance on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night.

He’s been on the show numerous times as a “resident expert” and contributor, but what set last night’s appearance apart was a scripted phone call during his shtick, which resulted in him pulling out his *gasp* iPhone on set, and fake-answering it. Considering his extensive work with Apple, it shouldn’t be a big surprise that he uses an iPhone, but it’s still funny to see the PC casually busting one out.

Oh, and he held it upside down—either on purpose, or maybe the clueless image is more than an act? Either way, it’s a funny clip that involves economics, canaries, and time travel. Checkity check it.

Is he really employed by Apple? Isn't it more like he is employed by the ad agency that Apple uses? Can someone clarify this?

I updated the link, since it loaded the wrong video for me (it was the next video over, for some bizarre reason), but there may be icky DRM/IP-checking preventing our international neighbors from watching. In which case, we apologize.
