Apple support docs inform and entertain (take that, Microsoft)

Technical Writing...analog styleYou know, I enjoy writing every day. And lord knows I do my best to keep our dear readers entertained—you are entertained, aren’t you? But, I have to admit that trying to keep the writing interesting is as much for me as it is for our audience.

This is why I’m so glad to see that the people who write Apple’s support documents seem to be enjoying themselves too. Drunken Batman has posted a few examples of amusing Apple technical docs before, such as the classic that begins: “As if it were a swarm of bees, you should stay away from the SyncServices folder in Mac OS X 10.4.”

So when I came across article 301749, “iTunes Music Store: Finding missing music and video downloads,” I couldn’t help but be amused by the second suggestion:

Check your Recycle Bin/Trash

Another place to look for wayward music files is in your Recycle Bin (Windows) or the Trash (Mac). Don’t ask. Sometimes things happen and files wind up there. We’ve all done it and couldn’t even begin to guess how. If you find any, just move them from the Recycle Bin or Trash, and add them back to iTunes.

Bless you, amusing Apple tech writer, wherever you are.
