Till today, the most fanboy-ish thing I’d ever done was stick an Apple sticker on my forehead for about five minutes and run around the house trying to impersonate Steve Jobs. Suffice it to say that this act wasn’t very well received among the civilized humans I live with and my love for Apple hadn’t dared to peek out of its little closet in the corner of my heart since then.
But then my birthday came along and someone showed me a picture of an Apple logo shaped cake. There is a threshold for how much allurement my fanboy instincts can withstand and on seeing that tempting piece of sweet goodness, the suppressed demon burst forth and claimed center stage once again. I had to have an Apple logo cake for my birthday.
I immediately printed out a huge Apple logo and took it to the bakery. The baker, of course, had no clue what that logo was (this is India we are talking about - the only Apples people are familiar with come in red and the bitten ones are not very popular) and couldn’t understand why someone would want that shape for a birthday cake. I said, “It’s for my brother. Don’t bother trying to figure out the logic. He’s a crazy guy.”
To see what followed, just check out the Flickr photoset. It’s the next best thing to being there.
In an age of children being born with Apple logo birthmarks and severely injured men professing their undying love for the Apple CEO, I guess I don’t quite qualify as a fanboy. I’m just an admirer. An appreciative onlooker. Definitely not a fanboy. Right?
Right?
Ah well, who am I kidding! I have the fanboy badge stuck to my black mock turtleneck which I’m going to be wearing to the Macworld stage that’s been prepared for me in the backyard of the house. We’re playing “Keynote Keynote” today. You’re welcome to join.
Congratulations!
I don't think my family would have let me have an Apple cake for my birthday... :P
Thank you! :)
BTW, sometimes taking matters into your own hands goes a long way... ;)

thats one 'mazin treat.
Its great to find a Machead around these parts. Wht part of India are u frm ?
You should have told him it was the ipod company. They understand that much.
Happy Birthday.
You know... I was going through the photoset. The cake read as "Certified Apple Fandoy" ( Yes, fandoy. NOT fanboy )
That's a great way to celebrate nonetheless. :)

Belated Happy Birthday! :)
