When we saw Steve Jobs pull the MacBook Air out of that manila envelope, we knew it was just a matter of time before it would strike someone that they could actually sell a similar envelope to MacBook Air users. So it wasn’t all that surprising when we stumbled across AirMail, a handmade “manila folder notebook sleeve” designed for, you guessed it, the MacBook Air.
The product is a result of the joint effort of Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans. It is made of durable vinyl and lined with soft fleece. Though it is enough to protect your newest gizmo from light bumps and scrapes, it is definitely not for those who are into rock climbing or bungee jumping and like to take their gadgets along for the ride.
Though it might not be the most practical notebook case, it does look unique and I expect quite a few people to be surprised when you pluck your notebook out of what looks like a standard office envelope. It is available for pre-order now (just like the MacBook Air) for $29.95 and ships in two weeks (again, just like the notebook its designed for).
MacUser is your source for news, info, and opinion about Apple, the Mac, and the iPod. Our dedicated team of bloggers covers everything that is relevant to Mac users — and, okay, some stuff that’s not quite relevant, but is still a lot of fun.
ha... can you imagine the office where some dude has one of these? People will be hoping to get a shotgun envelope from him, hoping it got mixed up with his Airmail folder...
