What’s on Obama’s iPod?

obama.jpgWhat Obama may lack in political experience (so the right-wing political pundits accuse), he makes up for with a solid, eclectic taste in music.

According to The Examiner, Obama’s iPod is packed with a wide array of music ranging from classic folk (Dylan), classic classical (Yo-Yo Ma), contemporary female singer songwriter (Sheryl Crow), and booty-shakin, dirt-brushin’-off-yo’-shoulda hip-hop (Jay-Z). He also embraces his jazzy side, with legends Miles Davis, Coltrane, and Charlie Parker earning their own spots on his playlists.

“Actually, one of my favorites during the political season is ‘Maggie’s Farm,’” Obama said of one of Dylan’s tracks. “It speaks to me as I listen to some of the political rhetoric.”

This happens to by one of my favorite Dylan tunes as well, and so my endorsement of Obama is further reinforced. Rock on, Obama. Rock on.

No, actually, he does lack experience. The thought of this guy running the most powerful country in the world is truly frightening. That and the fact that he admires the president who brought us the misery index makes it even more scary.

No offense to the country or anything, but it seems rather off that even your presidential candidate's iPod can become something of a monitored tool of accountability - imagine if he had Insane Clown Posse on there?
'President Juggolo, salute!'
Especially when a few people I've spoken to don't seem to know anything about him beyond his race (that includes his political party...).

I am pretty sure Cheney's iPod is filled with:

1. The Enemy's list: People who are considered enemies of conservatives who are subject to warrant-less wiretapping, harrassment, IRS audit, torture, etc.

2. Future war plans to destabilize and jack up energy prices further for his oil buddies.

3. Podcasts of Rush Limbaugh, James Dobson, Pat Robertson

4. Songs by Toby Keith, Ted Nugent, etc.

And I'm so totally sure that press relea... I mean, um, playlist wasn't carefully constructed to make him seem hip, cool, cultured, sensitive and technically savvy, all at once. All things to all people. And you bought it, hook, line & sinker.

Um, dude. The guy owns an iPod like (almost) everyone else, and enjoys an eclectic variety of music by some of the most highly regarded artists of the 20th century; something you'd expect from a mature, refined individual. Take a cynical view if you must, but to me a candidate with an iPod packed with good music doesn't seem like that big of a political ploy.

What's really inside Obama's iPod? Or other politicians' iPod?

Songs FREE of charge provided by major recording labels. These songs have been treated with subliminal messages, "Piracy is bad...Piracy is bad...P2P is bad...P2P is bad....Remember who pays your liquor/hooker bill....etc."

Bush's iPod is filled with:

1. Kid's Alphabet Lessons
2. Dr. Seuss
3. Remedial English lessons
3. Video clips of oil company TV commercials (reminds him why oil companies deserve tax cuts, subsidies for all the good things they do )
4. Revised copy of Constitution, written by Uncle Dick Cheney (Audio Book narrated by Donadl Rumsfeld)
5. List of Swiss/Caribbean off shore bank accounts for himself, his family, his Texas buddies for job well done after retiring from the Presidency.

I read Mac User for its technology news not for political rhetoric. I listen to Rush Limbaugh podcasts on my iphone, sold to me by Steve Jobs on Quick Time. Steve is liberal, I am conservative. He doesn't tell me how to vote, so I buy his computers etc.

This is your first election, isn't it? Tsk.

Please - Obama's list is so market-tested it isn't funny. Something there to appeal to each focus group.

Just for once, I'd like him to take a clear stand on something without providing a "but" or "however" exlusion clause.

Start paying attention. The change he would bring is not the change you are dreaming of.
