Something strange is happening on Sony’s PlayStation 3 site. If you load up the front page, you may ever so briefly notice an almost subliminal image, floating right beneath the “PlayStation 3” text.
Gamer site Joystiq subjected the image to JFK-like scrutiny, and determined that the image in question was in fact, an Apple logo. Odd. A Joystiq reader dissected the flash file and found that the image was of an Apple product with smoke flowing down on it, which some have suggested may have been a placeholder to get the effects right.
But wait…just last month, Sony Computer Entertainment President Ken Kutaragi was quoted as saying:
Regarding the PS3’s high sticker price, Kutaragi explained it was all a matter of brand perception. “Steve Jobs could slap an Apple logo on the PS3 and sell them for $2,000 each,” he said.Is this Kutaragi’s way of telling us that the PS3 sticker price is going up even higher?
I tried loading up the animation, but I couldn’t see it. Which means Sony’s quickly excised it, or my vision isn’t what it used to be.

Sony did take it down quick. You can still see it here.
