Homeward Bound: The glorious return of an old lady’s iPod in Oregon

old lady.jpgGather ‘round children, Grandpa Dave’s got a story for y’all. It’s a story about love, loss, and redemption. Oh, and iPods.

Our epic tale begins in the dank corridors of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport last Christmas. Marguerite “Pegge” Gee, a retired hairdresser from Philomath, Oregon (home of those who love math), was intent upon surprising her dear 92-year-old uncle in Florida. But unfortunately, she made the trip unaccompanied by music after she accidentally left her iPod on a seat at the airport.

The poor lady called the lost-and-found office, but was told that they had a whole box full of abandoned iPods. How would they ever find the right one? But that isn’t the end, oh no. A brave, selfless airport employee went through some photos on an iPod that met her apparently elaborate description, and found a photo that led back to Oregon (must have been of trees, or a trail or something).

And so our story ends with the happy reunion of Pegge Gee and her iPod, who all lived happily ever after. And the moral is: if you’re looking for a free iPod, call Sea-Tac airport. They’ve got tons! (If they ask you what kind of pictures are on it, go with the Space Needle—you can’t lose!)

And yes, it’s a slow news day. And no, that pic is not of the real Pegge Gee, but is rather my interpretation as to how she probably looked after being reunited with her beloved iPod.
