The MacBook Pro’s turn for new firmware

MacBook Pro You must be tingling at the possibilities now that Apple has released the MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.5.1. Could fame and fortune await you? Perhaps, if stability seems to suggest that, they could.

This update fixes several issues to improve the stability of MacBook Pro computers.

I was worried because my Powerbook wobbles on some surfaces. Of course, once you’ve applied the update you can tell it took because your boot ROM will read MBP21.00A5.B08 or MBP31.0070.B07. It’s a mere 4.9 MB and available on Apple’s website.

Before you do, you might want to get Firmware Restoration CD 1.7 and have it ready. Just in case.

Seems like my Santa Rosa 2.2Ghz doesn't need the update...Does anyone know where I can find that wallpaper used on the MacBook Pro, I can't find it anywhere?

What is it with this Firmware upgrades? Is it so hard to let us know what MacBook Pro version exactly needs this upgrade?

I am downloading this file every time just to be informed (again) that I don't need this update ...

Anyone know what the firmware update addresses? I wish it would address the constant problem of my MBP not waking from sleep when I close the lid and reopen it - usually when I change from one power source to another (i.e. when using the battery, closing it and putting to sleep, then plugging back into the AC adapter and trying to open and wake again).

I was able to install the 1.5 update, and for those who couldn't install that one it seems that the 1.5.1 is for you. This update did fix my waking up from sleep problem, thank you Apple!!!

I updated to 1.5 the other day, I thought. But my Boot ROM is B07 already.. and Safari is the only thing in my Software Update (which actually crashed when I tried to start it).

Pity Safari wants me to restart.. since I use Firefox and I'm not that keen on restarting when I don't need to.
