It’s “new iPod” Tuesday! Okay, so maybe it’s otherwise known as Apple’s “Let’s Rock” event but the glut of new iPods could not be denied. Even the iPod shuffle was treated to a fresh coat of paint, “in more vibrant blue, green, pink, and red” according to Apple’s website. The red shuffle is still a part of the Product Red project.
Those concerned about Apple’s efforts to “go green,” might be interested in this little tidbit on the shuffle’s tech specs page:
iPod shuffle embodies Apple’s continuing environmental progress. It is designed with the following features to reduce environmental impact:
* PVC-free headphones
* Highly recyclable aluminum enclosure
Retaining the shuffle’s usual physical dimensions (1.07 inches high, 1.62 inches wide, 0.41 inches deep, and weighing 0.55 ounces) the shuffle is still available in 1GB or 2GB configurations (hurrah for flash-drive storage!). Estimated battery life is still 12 hours. The iPod shuffle still supports a variety of audio formats, including AAC, protected AAC, MP3, and AIFF.
iPod shuffles in silver and purple (1 and 2GB sizes) can still be found at Apple’s Refurbished store…for now. That purple one has my name all over it. In Copperplate script with a nice little flourish at the end.
They remind me of the iPod Mini rainbow...perhaps Apple is revisiting its past (or grandparents)?
