Psystar offers imitation Xserve, Apple sleeps

Xserve clone It’s almost as if Apple’s entire legal staff has gone on vacation. Psystar continues unchecked, making new Mac product clones. This time, the Xserve is under attack.

The server product once again doesn’t feature the great looks of an Apple product, but Psystar customers don’t seem to mind.

I’m beginning to think we won’t see Apple react until Psystar teams up with AppleInsider to offer rumored Apple products prior to their release date. Then we’ll see the real fireworks.

You get what you pay for and Apple hardware is top quality.
You want great reliability, service and support then get the real deal. Buy Apple!
Buying this Psystar is like shopping at the Dollar Store or Wal-Mart for a server.

Apple. Real Intelligent Design.ยจ

Though I personally don't like this business practice, the fact is that the only illegal thing Psystar is doing is preinstalling Mac OS X with their machines. And if Apple complained about that, they could just sell their PCs along with a copy of OS X, which would be perfectly legal.

The only thing Apple can do is hope that Psystar goes out of business by themselves.

@ Anonymous:

The "only" illegal thing, yes, but illegal nonetheless according the the End User License Agreement (EULA). Apple is usually fierce about protecting its brand identity and its tightly controlled quality standards (perceived or real). It's quite strange that they haven't publicly smacked this company in court yet.

@Dave

Maybe it's Apple testing the waters. You never know.
