Over at the Mothership, our good buddy Glenn Fleishman has an in-depth review of Time Capsule, incorporating the improvements made by this past week’s AirPort and Time Machine updates. According to Glenn, the updates refined Time Capsule’s backup functionality which, after all, is probably the reason most people are buying it.
Based on the significant improvements added via firmware, AirPort driver, and Time Machine updates, Time Capsule clearly wasn’t ready to ship to customers when it went out the door in late February. However, those updates clearly have ironed out many of Time Capsule’s initial glitches, leaving a solid backup device in its place.Personally, I really like the idea of Time Capsule, but I’m weighing that versus a Mac mini with a FireWire hard drive for my home network. So many devices I could get! So little time and money.
Anyway, if you’re considering a Time Capsule, Glenn’s thorough review is a must read. Plus, today’s his birthday and I’m guessing you probably didn’t get him a present. Heartless.

Just an FYI: You cannot partition the Time Capsule using Disk Utility or anything. So TM is going to hog all of that space whether you like it or not. This is quite obvious since it is basically a network share, but many don't realise this and have started grumbling (as always)
I think if the money works, a Mini with FireWire would be awesome. Get a big enough hard drive and you can use it for a media server.
Then nice part about Time Capsule is that it's a terrific value for a 500GB or 1TB hard drive, and if you need a new router, that's just icing on the cake.
