Like an older sibling at the birth of a new baby, the MacBook Pro wants a little attention too. With the mid- and high-range MacBooks clocked in at 2.0GHz, you may be thinking: hey, wasn’t that the speed of the $2499 MacBook Pro? What gives?
Well, Apple’s not about to leave its big boy out in the cold. The MacBook Pro line has been given a mild speed bump, raising the high-end processor to 2.16GHz from 2.0GHz, and the low-end processor to 2.0GHz from 1.83GHz. In addition, as Macworld’s Jim Dalrymple reports, MacBook Pro purchasers have been given the option to snag the glossy version of the screen that debuted with today’s MacBook on the MacBook Pro at no additional cost.
“Our Pro users are used to the anti-glare display on the MacBook Pro and we didn’t want to switch that on them,” [said] Philip Schiller. But you consumer level suckers, you’d better like what you get. Or else.
I’m a little curious about what this “glossy” screen entails, though I’m guessing it’s a lucite-covered screen like you find on lots of PC notebooks. On the one hand, while this makes cleaning easier, it also significantly increases the glare. I suppose we’ll have to wait until we get our hands on one to find out.
When are we going to see an "upgrade to 2.33 GHz" option appear on the MacBook Pro? The speeds we're bumped, but still no 2.33 processor. I want it!!
