Get eight core Mac Pro benchmarks before the product is released

Intel With the release of Intel’s four core Xeon chips, we all know it’s simply a matter of time before they appear in an Apple product. While they could do something crazy like release an all new product using these processors, it’s much more realistic to expect them in a revised Mac Pro. Why wait until January for confirmation and benchmarks?

Let CNET do it now. Looking at the tests that take heavy advantage of multiple cores, the law of diminishing returns really takes a toll, particularly because the clock speed is a bit less. There’s also some rather surprising results which suggest more that some tests just don’t multithread well.
