Images Pics Merlin-Xu870If you’re someone who needs completely mobile wireless high speed internet (ie: through cellular technology), until now you’ve been restricted to using a MacBook Pro with an EVDO ExpressCard/34. This means you were limited to EVDO networks such as Verizon and Sprint. But if you’re like me (or the rest of the world) and run off of GPRS/EDGE technology (ie: Cingular or T-Mobile) you now have an option.

Just today nova media announced launch2net, a small application which lets you establish a mobile internet connection using the Merlin HSDPA XU870 3G ExpressCard. The software combined with the hardware will let you connect to tri-band HSDPA/UMTS (3G) networks and quad-band EDGE/GPRS networks. The connection speeds of these networks can reach up to 3.6 Mbps. Finally there’s a global solution for mobile broadband.
