Crucial scans your RAM

crucialScanner.jpgBuying RAM can be a royal pain in the wazoo, especially for your typical user who doesn’t know what RAM really is, much less the type of RAM they’ll need to upgrade their Mac.

Crucial now has a fix for that crucial problem, and is finally offering their System Scanner — which has been available on Windows for quite some time — for the Mac.

Download the app, run it, and it’ll open a new page in your browser with all your RAM deets, including your currently installed memory, how many RAM slots you’ve got, your maximum memory capacity, and extra info like your processor type and speed. It also offers a bunch of Q&As with answers that correspond to your system specs.

Check out the tool here, and point layman Mac users to Crucial’s site when they ask about memory — save yourself some Googling and explaining.

I've been very happy with Crucial. I used the scanner recently and it worked good, recommending the right RAM for my machine.

That app has been around for quite some time. I used it several weeks ago, probably months. It might have been in beta though, I don't know.

I loved this. I used this a month or two ago and it helped a lot. Obviously i did a huge amount of research as well to make sure im getting the best deal and of course crucial beat them all. I upgraded my (core solo) mac mini to 2g of RAM =p the most. and not works amazingly with photoshop, dreamweaver, and all my other programs!
