Our transatlantic brethren (they’re more like cousins really) at Macworld UK are reporting that Apple has declared the iMac G5 End of Life (EOL) to UK resellers. The company will be cancelling orders which they’ll be unable to fill instead of swapping the G5s for their Intel Core Duo doppelgängers.
The iMac G5 is still listed in the UK Apple Store, and there are as of yet no reports about the model’s demise in the US, but with the Intel transition so speedily underway, and the recent disappearing acts of the 15” PowerBook G4, 17” iMac G5 and PowerPC Mac mini, can an announcement about the last remaining iMac be far behind? Such a move would make the 12” and 17” PowerBooks, 12” and 14” iBooks, and PowerMac as the only remaining PowerPC Macs.
