Our clever friends over at The Unofficial Apple Weblog noticed that Apple had snuck another little Easter egg into today’s announcements. Squirreled at the end of the iMac press release is this tantalizing tidbit:
Additional options include: new Apple Wireless Keyboard and wireless Mighty Mouse; AirPort Express® and AirPort Extreme Base Station (now with Gigabit Ethernet); the AppleCare Protection Plan; and pre-installed copies of iWork™ ’08, Logic® Express 7, Final Cut® Express HD 3.5 and Aperture 1.5. [emphasis added]Seems the AirPort Extreme’s been given a little upgrade on the sly. The base station’s tech specs pages have not yet been changed, but the diagram on the store page reflects the speedier version.
Frankly, we’ve been clamoring for this addition back since the extremer AirPort base station was announced in January. Good to see Apple’s slipped it in, and without pumping up the $179 price either. Almost makes me want to go out and buy one…so white and gleaming.
