Andrew Escobar has discovered and published a way to get Front Row installed on any Mac, not just those is comes pre-installed on. His little utility only changes a few booleans in your Mac, so nothing is actually changed in Front Row itself. This is superior because no bugs will be introduced into Front Row, as they sometimes are when end users modify software.
I successfully installed Front Row, following Andrew's instructions, with no problems whatsoever. Front Row works great and is amazing! Just make sure if you do this install to follow the order presented in Andrew's instructions, as some users who didn't follow his instructions are having issues with OS X. Lastly, restart your entire system after finishing the last install to add Front Row to your System Preferences. In Andrews's instructions it says only to log out and log back in. This will not be enough to add Front Row to your prefs panel. Check out his Front Row page!

I had a previous version installed and then went ahead and upgraded following Andrew's instructions to a T. It seemed to go ok, until the next time i rebooted and found my menu items missing.
I deleted front row and it's pref file, reinstalled the 10.4.5 combo update to fix that problem, and then I tried to install Front Row again (the exact same way) and it worked fine!
If you have a previous (hacked) install of Front Row then delete it before upgrading.
This is my first install of Front Row. Works great on my 15" PowerBook 1.67 G4
Note: the last step said to log out and back in again to activate. That didn't work for me but a simple restart got things going.
Front Row seems really snappy.
It was good while it lasted... Looks like the intellectual property fellows at Apple have put the kibosh on it.
