One of the coolest keyboard concepts floating around is the Optimus Maximus keyboard. This outrageously expensive hip keyboard doesn’t have the standard letters printed onto the keys. Rather, each key contains a tiny OLED display, capable of changing its appearance. Beyond the obvious use for replacing the standard Latin letters with alternate alphabets, little colorful pictures can also grace the keys.
This is a boon for users such as artists and video editors that have in the past had to resort to overlays and alternate keyboards with printed on functions. Clearly the applications are endless, but considering that versatility, it’s no big surprise that someone wants to integrate it into a laptop. Imagine if you will that the MacBook Pro suddenly had this as an outrageously expensive option. Would you trade in your current model for the utility or chic of such a keyboard?
