Is OS X really slow?

ridiculous fish This article has recently gotten a lot of attention and raged through Digg. The cause for the attention is data to back up a very bold claim:

For example, in one benchmark both Linux and Windows XP are more than twice as fast as OS X.

The bolding is his. Also, add in some RDF references for good measure:

… don’t fall victim to Apple’s marketing which is an extension of the Steve Jobs Reality Distortion Field.

This got the attention of someone at Apple (who writes at ridiculous fish). He’s not speaking on behalf of Apple, but he does point out some significant flaws in the conclusions made. A word of warning though, it’s an extremely technical article and unless you’re familiar with operating system design (words like malloc), it might confuse you more than educate.
