Today’s selections from Apple’s extensive technical documentation are TN2085 (affectionately referred to as “Enabling multi-threaded execution of the OpenGL framework”) and the MacBook Developer Note.
The former gives developers the details they need to optimize their OpenGL code to take advantage of multiple cores/processors. Considering all current Macs now have multiple cores, it’s probably a good idea for all Mac developers using OpenGL to take a look.
The latter covers all the hardware details of the MacBook that you could be interested in. It’s even been updated to cover the new Core 2 Duo version. My favorite tidbit is the fact that the Airport Extreme card is actually connected over a dedicated PCI Express link. Perhaps that information will be enough for some enterprising hacker to find a way to attach a real video card.
MacUser is your source for news, info, and opinion about Apple, the Mac, and the iPod. Our dedicated team of bloggers covers everything that is relevant to Mac users — and, okay, some stuff that’s not quite relevant, but is still a lot of fun.
