DIY TabletFrom time to time, some resourceful Mac owners take it upon themselves to build the hardware that Apple has yet to release, usually in the form of a tablet PC. In the past, iBooks have often been the host machines for the hacks, but this time an 800 MHz TiBook is the guinea pig. Florian Maurer has taken the guts of a Wacom Graphire tablet and a Titanium PowerBook and carefully combined them to produce a sharp looking tablet Mac.

One drawback of using the Graphire tablet model he had handy is that the touch-sensitive area only covers 6x8”, however it thankfully doesn’t limit visible screen real estate in any way. Overall, it’s a really well executed mod, one that Apple should take note of if they, ahem, ever decide to get into the market. You can view a gallery of completed project photos here, which spans two pages and covers all the intricate details.
