There are some people who just can’t help wanting to take things apart and figure out their insides. Hopefully, they stick to things of a non-biological nature. I’ve taken apart a few electronics in my day; especially when I was working in tech support, but usually they were old discarded pieces of equipment, not brand new shiny MacBook Pros.
To be fair, this guy had a laudable goal: he wanted to install a biometric fingerprint scanner into his Mac. If that meant cutting the case open with his Dremel, well, hand the man a power cord. He even hooked it up so the scanner (a Sony Puppy FIU-600—isn’t it cute?) draws power from the laptop’s DC IN board.
To those of you considering following his example, he warns that doing this will void your warranty. In fact, doing this will probably void the warranty of every Macintosh within a 200 yard radius. So think twice.
