I’ve never quite gone all in on the fascination with Texas Hold ‘Em. Give me a game of five card draw or seven card stud any day of the week. I mean, I’ll still lose my shirt, lunch money, and probably my first born, but at least I’ll have fun. But there’s little question that Apple made a smart move when it included the poker variant as one of the first games to be available on the iPod.
And for those of you who, like me, are Hold ‘Em novices, you might be interested in this tip on how to skip the low tables on the iPod game and move right up to the high stakes match of your choice. It’s worthwhile to note that this tip comes courtesy Macworld reader Tom’s ten year old son:
1. Select New Game,While I don’t own Texas Hold ‘Em, Macworld honcho Jason “Tex” Snell confirms for me that it works as described. While I might not be big into the Hold ‘Em, cheating at poker is totally something I can get behind. Especially when I get to keep my kneecaps.
2. Select the first table,
3. IMMEDIATELY (before the table loads) turn the click wheel clock-wise and select the table you want. This will even get you into the championship tables. User have to do step 3 right after they push select without any delays or it will load the first table. Takes a few tries to get it down, but it works.
