StarCraft is one of those games that’s simply amazing in terms of its longevity. The original game came out for the PC in 1998 (the Mac version appeared on the scene in 1999), and it still remains one of the most popular games in the world to this day, almost ten years later. In a field where developments happen at an almost exponential pace, it’s a testament to the team at Blizzard that their games have such staying power.
But that doesn’t mean that they have to stand still. This morning, Blizzard officially unveiled the game’s successor, StarCraft II. Featuring the same three playable races as the original game—Protoss, Terran, and Zerg—StarCraft II brings improved 3D graphics and a bunch of additional units and skills to the game.
For Mac users, the most welcome announcement comes from this question on Blizzard’s FAQ page:
Will StarCraft II be available on Mac simultaneously with PC?Blizzard has done a great job of keeping parity between its Mac and PC offerings, so it’s fantastic to see them continuing this trend with what’s sure to be one of the most anticipated titles of the year. Pricing and availability have not yet been announced, but Blizzard devs have said that the game is very far along in the development process already.
As with all of Blizzard’s recent releases, StarCraft II will ship on both PC and Mac simultaneously.

Great news!
let's just hope it is designed to run well on your run-of-the-mill intel box/book. the screen-caps make me think it will be based on a engine similar to Warcraft III... which runs well on my 1.83 MBP.
Yes! This is what makes Blizzard such an awesome company! I hope they support Macs forever, and encourage other companies to do the same. If it's a good game, I'll definitely be playing it on my Mac Pro.
Been waiting for this forever! We've got a great starcraft 2 community building up at http://www.starcraft2forum.org
If anyone wants to come and talk about this great game, please do so! It's probably the most anticipated game of all time, I mean, we only had to wait 10 years!
