Trial.jpgEA has released the Spore Creature Creator trial, much to the delight of gamers looking forward to this most anticipated “massively single-player online game”. For those of you who haven’t been following the development of Spore, it’s a new game by Maxis (you know, the SimCity and Sims guys) in which you control the evolution of a species from unicellular organism all the way to interstellar space-exploring civilization. If that sounds really cool to you, that’s because it is really cool.

Its release is scheduled for September 7, but a major part of the game, the “Creature Creator”, has been released as a preview and demo for the full game. As the name implies, the Spore Creature Creator allows you to customize and build your creature as it evolves through its many stages.

The Spore Creature Creator is Leopard and Intel Mac only, which leaves my outdated Tiger-using butt out of the equation. But if you’re running Leopard on an Intel Mac, and have the required minimum ATI X1600 or NVidia 7300 GT with 128 MB of Video RAM, head over to the Spore trial site and give it a shot.

This is a fantastic game/program. I am going to try to get the full version today.
And it works great on my 2 year old MacBook Pro.
