Good news for those hardcore Mac gamers out there: one of the most popular and prestigious titles of last year is coming out for the Mac. Gears of War was a big deal on the Xbox 360, selling over 3.5 million copies. Its developer, Epic, is now prepping a PC version, but in an interview with Game Trailers, Epic’s VP and co-founder Mark Rein said that it would be heading to the Mac, along with their forthcoming Unreal Tournament III.
No timeframe was announced, and it’s unknown whether Epic is porting the games themselves, or perhaps taking advantage of TransGaming’s Cider technology to make the titles Mac compatible. The PC version of Gears is slated to include a bunch of single- and multi-player content that was not in the original Xbox 360 version; it’s unknown if that material will show up on the Mac version as well, though if they are using Cider, it seems likely.
I enjoyed playing Gears on my 360, but I’m not really sure I’d want to go back and play it on my Mac; I’m kind of hoping that single-player content makes it back to the 360 version.

According to Joystiq, it's not using Cider.
