Hordes of Orcs is the new time sink

Orc You may be familiar with the flash-based game Desktop Defense. If you are, you’ve no doubt lost a job and a loved one due to the addictive way it has wasted your time. Sometimes it’s the simple games that get you. Setting up your elaborate labyrinth of attacking towers is like trying to solve a puzzle, several hours at a time.

You just knew somebody would have to take the same concept, add some sweet graphics, and give it a theme likely to draw in the geeks. Freeverse, we all saw you coming with Hordes of Orcs. Game I’ve already wasted 4 hours to in a sitting: check. World of Warcraft-ish theme: check. I can already feel my wallet being loosed from my pants.

I just played a couple quick games with the demo. The graphics made my poor Powerbook groan in agony, but on a newer machine, I’m sure the game would just hum and boy is it pretty. The game itself is $24.95, which if my intuition is correct, will end up working out to about a cent an hour by the time you’ve decided to go cold turkey.
