In continuation of my last post, here’s two more Leopard features announced at WWDC ‘06 that Steve Jobs decided to bring up again:
In his keynote, Jobs showed the audience some of the new features of Dashboard in Leopard. He demoed the Web Clip widget, that widget-izes web pages from Safari 3.0, that he also showed off at WWDC ‘06. In addition, Steve unveiled a new Apple widget, which allows you to watch movie trailers and find movies and showtimes directly from the Dashboard.
Jobs also showed off Time Machine, one of the most applauded features of Leopard — from last year’s WWDC. In addition to the file-restoring functionality we saw last year, files from Time Machine can also be previewed with the Quick Look feature in the new Finder and stored on a shared drive via Airport Extreme.
So, that about wraps up this year’s last year’s Leopard features. Now, don’t get me wrong, these all seem cool, but it’s just that they’ve already been known for about ten months. Come on Steve, give us some more of the new stuff.

I think Apple has increasingly been criticized for not focusing on mass-market appeal in the WWDC keynote -- I'll readily admit that it is not fair given the nature of WWDC, but Apple makes a big deal out of the keynote and this is what happens when Apple products attract mass-market interest.
As a result, we get stuff like this -- a non-technical, not-very-interesting overview of Leopard's flashy new features (including several we've seen before) with no under-the-hood details to speak of. It's a shame.
