WWDC ‘07: Last year’s news, Part I

Wwdc06 While Steve Jobs announced some amazing new Leopard features today, he also mentioned some that we heard about last year’s WWDC.

One of these is 64-bit technology. We knew from WWDC ‘06 that Leopard would support 64-bit on all levels, including Cocoa apps. Well, Steve didn’t add much to that, except that one version of Leopard will handle 32-bit and 64-bit apps.

The next WWDC ‘06 feature mentioned again today is Core Animation. Steve didn’t say anything new about the 3D graphics framework, though he did show some cool demos.

Finally, Jobs mentioned Boot Camp. Boot Camp, as we knew before, will be built directly into Leopard. Jobs also crushed some rumors about Boot Camp, confirming that Leopard would not have virtualization technologies built-in or that Apple created a formal partnership with Parallels/SWSoft or VMWare.

So, while these Leopard features are still cool, they’re also old and didn’t really need to be brought up again.

Can someone explain what 10.5 being 64 bit through out means? Will it work on a Mac Mini, which being a Core Duo, and not a Core 2 Dus is, I believe a 32 bit chip. Also what about PPC G4 and G3?
