There’s no doubt about it, June’s going to be an exciting month for Apple. That feature complete Leopard beta that should include those top secret features will be given to developers at WWDC (followed seconds later by complete screenshot galleries of all the new stuff). The iPhone will make its debut, finally ending the endless “Will the iPhone be a flop?” speculation pieces that have no basis in reality.
These major events tend to attract all the major Apple and Mac news. We’re knee deep in a quiet Mac news cycle (which is naturally best summed up by a recent Crazy Apple Rumors entry).
At the Wall Street Journal, Walt Mossberg took a three hour nap. Across town at the New York Times, David Pogue leaned back in his chair and tossed pencils into the ceiling tiles.
Apple didn’t so much decline to comment for this story as it really just didn’t have anything to say.
“Phewwww,” Jobs breathed.
“Eeeeyup,” Cook sighed.
I’m starting to go a little stir crazy. I want something to happen. Anything. Even new Mac releases are starting to get a little stale. The 8 core Mac Pro is cool, but it’s really just a new configuration. The MacBook revision… fuggedaboutit. While it makes the computer an even better value, it doesn’t even feature the latest in Intel technology.
Here’s my suggestion to Apple: start Steve Jobs on his own keynote tour. Let him travel from city to city, giving keynotes. They don’t even have to be about anything new. Maybe he could talk about his latest grocery list or what he had for dinner last night. Or maybe he could tour with Emiril Lagasse. Hours and hours of “Boom!” “Bam!” “Boom!” “Bam!” for our enjoyment (someone please take this as a cue to make a video mashup of this).
All this quiet makes me fearful that we’ll all feel let down when WWDC announcements don’t include the earth splitting open and 42 new Mac models.

If you can think of it, it already exists somewhere on the Internet ;-)

Two links to the same video that he didn't ask for? Geez guys, he was suggesting a mashup of Steve and Emeril (good idea).
