In what proves to be an exciting morning for photographers everywhere, Apple has released details of their update to Aperture: version 1.5. This version includes some promising features. Here’s what’s new:
- Aperture integration with iLife and iWork applications (finally!)
- Photos can be stored externally on DVDs/hard drives
- Photo previews are visible in your library and in iLife apps even when “offline” on external storage
- Integration with iTunes allows photos to be easily put on your iPod
- Support for slideshows run with the Apple remote
- Improved tools (zoom loup tool, sharpening tool)
- Support for XMP files
- An open API allows for third party extensions (such as Getty images, PhotoShelter, Flickr, and more)
- Run Aperture on any Mac, including the MacBook and Mac Mini
- Free upgrade to existing Aperture owners
