Scott and I got a chance to attend a question and answer session with Kevin Smith, the brains behind Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, and others. His work includes the famously misunderstood or horrible (depending on your point of view) Jersey Girl. He’s the first to bag on the film but will ponder why it bombed so horribly for many years to come.
It was a great presentation even though it wasn’t really about Macs (then again, neither was the keynote this year, so I guess that’s fair). I was laughing regularly during the entire presentation. He covered a wide variety of topics including his early struggles, his predilection for editing his own films, and even his love of Macs.
Allow me to pull together some choice quotes that are family friendly, because some of the things he said, even made me blush. He’s a “Mac whore”. “The PC is kind of weird and stupid.” “Mac, it’s for you.” He made repeated pleas for a free computer. But can you blame him?
Anyway, if he presents next year and you’re in attendance, I highly recommend you see him. There’s nothing like seeing a guy ask a sign language interpreter questions about how to sign things, only to get ignored and have those words interpreted. Priceless.
MacUser is your source for news, info, and opinion about Apple, the Mac, and the iPod. Our dedicated team of bloggers covers everything that is relevant to Mac users — and, okay, some stuff that’s not quite relevant, but is still a lot of fun.
UGH I wish I had known you two were there... I was there too and have been meaning to find you so I can say hi in person. Hope I still get a chance to.
