MacHeist Bundle announced today

MacHeistAs promised, the entire MacHeist bundle has been announced. They are as follows:

  1. Delicious Library
  2. FotoMagico
  3. ShapeShifter
  4. DEVONthink Personal
  5. Disco
  6. RapidWeaver
  7. iClip
  8. One Pangea Game
  9. NewsFire*
  10. TextMate*
NewsFire and TextMate are listed as part of the bundle, yet will only be unlocked if a certain amount of money is raised for charity (i.e. a certain number of bundles are sold). The amounts needed are $50,000 dollars for NewsFire and $100,000 for TextMate. If my math is correct (and correct me if it’s not), that would require 4,082 bundles to be sold to unlock NewsFire and 8,164 bundles sold to unlock TextMate. There is a 1 week window for this to occur, and the only way to increase the money donated to charity is purchase more bundles.

Here’s how I see it. A good deal of people will probably hold off making the purchase to try to determine whether or not NewsFire and TextMate will be unlocked. If they all made their purchase right off the bat, the apps probably would. However, with thousands of consumers waiting around playing a game of “if you do it, I’ll do it, but you go first…”, the odds of TextMate, and possibly NewsFire becoming unlocked are slim, at least in this blogger’s eyes.

As we’ve seen before though, I’m a jaded cynic. Let’s hear what you guys think will happen.

If you purchase the bundle before NewsFire and TextMate become unlocked, the serials will be sent to you after they have been unlocked.

I already own a few apps and I know there are a couple I won't use. Who has what? Lousy holidays. :P

Then there's the whole: which game should I choose? Hmmmm...

I'm pretty jaded myself, Pat, but at the current rate I can see NewsFire getting unlocked by week's end.
