I have no idea what kind of psychotropic drugs the Wall Street Journal used on Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, but they were able to convince both of them to share a stage at the Journal’s D: All Things Digital. (Then again, that Walt Mossberg is hard to say no to.) I think back about Gates’ recent open animosity about the Mac platform could make for a very awkward, tension filled presentation.
That tension will end, of course, when the steel cage is dropped, the two rip off their smart business casual shirts and go at it. Two technologies giants enter, one leaves. Really, they’re going to talk about the digital revolution’s history and future. I’m really hoping it’s not a talk about DRM (crossing fingers). Following the joint session, Jobs will have his own session about Apple and Gates will have his own as well.
