Apple special event on September 12th?

September 12thWe’re hearing a lot of buzz about a special Apple event on September 12th in San Francisco, though of course we’ve no information on what exactly Apple will be eventing. Heavy bets have been placed on the addition of feature-length movies to the iTunes Music Store, and I’d say that’s a good wager. It’s been just under a year since video was first added to iTMS, in the form of ABC television shows, and in fact, the special event will be 11 months to the day since that announcement.

More interesting is that September 12th also happens to be the opening day of the Apple Expo in Paris. We’ve already confirmed that there will not be a keynote in Paris, which some have attributed to the tempestuous relationship between Apple and the French government. I didn’t believe it then, but I did close my post with the following sentiment:

Then again, if Apple really wants to stick it to [the French], they’ll announce a big product the same week and throw a raging party in Cupertino.
As the French might say: “ooooh, le snap.”

Are you not expecting any new products? I have my fingers crossed for a touch screen ipod or new hand held =)
