All those rumors about September 9th? Spot on, as it turns out. This morning, Apple sent out invitations to members of the press for a special event next Tuesday. The text of the invite reads:
Please join us at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco on September 9 at 10:00 a.m. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. Arrive early for this invitation-only event.
As you can see, the theme is “Let’s Rock,” decked out in an iPod-like interface. Conspicuously absent is any mention of Rock’s frequent cohort “Roll”, who has seems to lately have become the Art Garfunkel to Rock’s Paul Simon. You’ll also notice that the event seems to be touting itself as a five star affair (that’s getting a little ahead of themselves) and, most interestingly, that the text at the top of the screen reads “Playing Soon” which suggests that Apple will finally roll out its much awaited “Clairvoyance” feature, playing the songs you want to hear before you even know you want to hear them.
What could it all mean? You ask me, there’s only one thing that Apple could be promoting with this kind of flyer. And that is the new Apple Rock, with your choice of Igneous, Sedimentary, or Metapmorphic. Well, either that or an Apple-branded printer/scanner/copier multifunction device. You heard it hear first.
We’re getting pretty excited, so we’ll keep you posted as September 9th approaches.
Nooo ! A new iPod ? Okay, good idea, but i'm still waiting a computer with hdmi, bluray, blablablah full hd i tutti quanti.
Did anyone else notice the curved edges on the picture? I don't have a "new" (or soon to be previously new) iPod, but I don't think their screens were like this. It could be a hint for what's to come. Either that, or I completely overreacted.
