Take care of the customer and someone’s bound to notice

Happy Mac.jpgI like to think that there’s still something to be said for kick-ass customer service, particularly in that strange place known as “the real world” (you know, the one that apparently doesn’t involve the Internet). For instance, an authorized Apple service provider in Rochester, New York was recently recognized by Apple for providing outstanding customer service and support.

Having spent over 20 years in the Apple service business, it doesn’t seem surprising that Christine Cormack, owner, of the CoreMac repair shop, knows her way around Macs and the customer-service business (and also, I just want to say that the play on words for the store’s name is awesome).

Cormack the store owner previously worked for various technology retailers and companies, servicing both Macs and PCs before receiving certifcation from Apple and opening CoreMac the store in early 2007. The store is also a go-to point for the Rochester Institute of Technology’s College of Arts and Sciences when their Mac systems need some TLC.

Which cannot be said of the Apple Store in my area. The concierge was condescending, with an air of arrogance, and seem to assume that whoever goes to the Genius bar for appointment is an idiot. The Genius himself (what an oxymoronic name) was the opposite of a people-person, no acknowledgement of my presence with even a simple "hello" and appeared to be impatient to deal with customers.

I've had nothing but stellar service from the Apple Store employees in Bridgewater. The Genius was friendly and explained everything he/she was doing to my MacBook (I've had several service trips). I never get the feeling that I am bothering anyone. My kids have attended several classes there and have come away feeling good and empowered to create.
