At Microsoft’s Mac Business Unit (Mac BU), there’s a new sheriff General Manager in town. You may remember Roz Ho, the former General Manager, from riveting appearances in keynotes past. She’s moved on to Microsoft’s Entertainment & Devices Division. Craig Eisler is her replacement, recently rejoining Microsoft after serving as the general manager of AOL Wireless. Prior to his AOL Wireless gig, Craig was the development manager for DirectX, a framework for developing multimedia interfaces.
What makes Craig Eisler the right man for the job isn’t exactly readily apparent. He’s posted enthusiastically about Macs on his blog, saying the following:
“I love the Mac/PC ads. I know I shouldn’t. They hit us where it hurts. But they make me laugh. Every time.”
So he’s got a sense of humor. And it also seems that he’s optimistic about running the Mac BU. With Microsoft’s revamp of Office 2008 underway, and the announcement that it will ship in the second half of this year, Craig Eisler has a long road ahead. Let’s wish him luck.

He sees the PC-Mac ads, and it hurts him.
Ok, let's unpack this.
The ads produce hurt emotions, because MS comes out worse. If MS had come out better than Apple, presumably the ads would not have hurt.
How to make MS come out better - so that it no longer hurts ? Produce crappy MS software for the Mac.
Guys, deep in his heart, this guy is a non-Mac sympathizer, and he's running the MBU.
Panic time.
