MacAddict rebrands as Mac|Life, seeks editorial soulmate

MacAddictThink you’ve got what it takes to run a Mac magazine? Then you may be in luck: MacAddict is rebranding as Mac|Life, and they’re looking for an editor-in-chief (no doubt they hope to appeal to a wider audience by appealing to “life” rather than, you know, addiction). Anyway, before you go off to send your hopeful resume into, you might want to eyeball the hefty shopping list:

Prerequisites include:
* impressive talent for consumer-enthusiast magazine craft, including excellent writing, editing and information design skills
* experience as a senior-level magazine editor (e.g., senior editor, executive editor, managing editor or higher)
* excellent leadership, managerial, and team-building skills
* keen knowledge and enthusiasm for Apple products and how they work
* strong grasp of pop culture, high culture and emerging lifestyle trends
* creativity, vision, charisma, wit, vim, vigor, sticktoitiveness, a streak of daringness, and a deft ability to make the right decisions very quickly.
Aside from the fact that I lack experience as a senior-level magazine editor, I’m totally there. Particularly that last bullet-point, which is eerily reminiscent of the jacket copy on my as-of-yet-unpublished novel.

I wasn’t a regular MacAddict reader, but I’ve bought a few issues over the years, and I’ve always enjoyed their irreverent take on all things Apple. Still, with magazine circulation on the decline, it’s a tough time to be relaunching a publication. For my part, despite being mainly concerned with the megabytes, I still enjoy reading about Macs on the pulp of slaughtered-trees. Best of luck to ‘em.

[Thanks, Jason]
