If you’ve been keeping an eye on Apple news since Steve’s Macworld keynote, and we assume you have seeing as you’re reading this blog, you’ve probably noticed that Apple has made some kind of announcement every Tuesday since then. This, of course, is in line with Steve’s hint that we could look forward to many more announcements in 2008 (“50 weeks to go”, as shown here). And, again if you follow this kind of news, you know new Apple products almost always come on Tuesdays.
But today, nothing happened. I even woke up to find my Twitter buddies desperately waiting for the Apple Store to go down. It never did, so Apple must be doomed!
Ha, but there’s a simple explanation: as you probably know, the iPhone SDK and Entreprise event is this Thursday, so this week is covered. Steve never said there were 50 Tuesdays to go, he said 50 weeks. (That said, I wonder why the event isn’t on a Tuesday. Any ideas?)
Fear not, the streak is still alive.

Steve-o was a bit busy with the Apple annual shareholders meeting today.
I think it's on Thursday because today is an important Election primary day.
Apple should know better than to let the fanboys down!
To be fair, Apple and Nike DID announce today that the Nike + iPod line would be made compatible with new exercise equipment from Precor, Star Trac, others...
Either they specifically were avoiding Tuesday, or they wanted it on Thursday.
Only reason I can think of to avoid today is that it's the day of the primaries in several states.
Why would they want it on Thursday? Maybe it will be obvious come Thursday. But probably not...
@Ward
I don't think they care that it's the primaries in Texas and Ohio and Vermont and New Hamphshire; there's been primaries on Tuesdays earlier and they still announced stuff.
IMO it's just the shareholder's meeting that was today. That can 'count' as their "Tuesday thing" can't it?
idk
My guess for Thursday is because today was the shareholder meeting. And for whatever reason they couldn't reschedule...
LOL! Good point, Thomas.
You've lifted my mood. Here I was, moping around, saddened by my brilliant theory getting shot in the foot. I'm all cheered up now—"the streak is still alive". :)
A dental appointment perhaps?
I mean, even El Jobso goes to the dentist, right?
The real reason it wasn't on Tuesday is they didn't have it ready yet. There's 100 guys in a dark room really, really nervously banging on their keyboards right now. ;-)
iPod price drops. Here in Europe.
In Europe it seams that Ipod classic price drop 30 euros yesterday.
