With all these awards Apple is receiving these days, we’re beginning to wonder how they do it. Secrecy, anyone? Leander Kahney over at Wired News has a nice article outlining some of Apple’s more extreme strategies for keeping its projects away from prying eyes. For example, did you know that poor Ron Johnson, now responsible for the retail division at Apple, had to use a false name everywhere he went during the first months of his employment so no one could suspect that Apple would open its own stores?
Not surprisingly, we also learn that Phil Schiller’s iPod-loving son doesn’t get any hints about the next big thing. Apparently, Jobs’ kids don’t get any preferential treatment either, at least not for the iPod Hi-Fi, which Steve covered with a black cloth and never used when someone else was around. Do you think the rumor sites are blocked on the Jobs family computer?
