During Apple’s financial conference call today, Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer reaffirmed the Intel transition timeline, which was revised to the end of this year recently. It’s good to see Apple making and beating their own estimated completion times. Of course, I’m being a little selfish and hoping to get a new small Intel laptop (12-13”) and Intel Power Mac/insert new name here. My Power Mac G4 MDD seems to be getting louder by the day.
As for whether we need to worry about Dvorak-originated, paranoid conspiracy theories about dropping Mac OS X and going with Windows, Apple COO Tim Cook tried once again to appeal our rational sides.
In response to an analyst question as to what Apple’s eventual plans were with Boot Camp, Cook noted, “we have no desire and no plan to support Windows.”
And yet we’re still going to hear about this idea for months while proponents attempt to make the stale topic sound fresh.
