Greenpeace shows a little Apple love

greenmac.jpgC’mon, Greenpeace, admit it—you’re jonesing after those new MacBooks too, right? I know you talk a tough game, but when it comes right down to it, you love technology as much as we do. You’re excited and you just can’t hide it—we understand.

That love even bleeds over into Steve Jobs’s recent environmental update, which you give props to in one of your latest blog posts. In fact, you even go so far as to say that the elimination of BFRs and PVC from the Apple product line “will be a first for a computer maker and lays down the challenge to competitors such as HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer and Toshiba.”

Greenepace does ding Apple for not completely eliminating PVC and BFRs in the new MacBooks (yes, the current power cables are still using PVC), which apparently puts them on par with the Sony Vaio. But they even go so far as to say that these, in combination with the disclosures on Apple’s recycling program and carbon footprint, could boost Apple’s ranking on the upcoming scorecard. Oooh, ooh, we can hardly wait.

Who cares what Greenpeace thinks? Apple should just concentrate on making the best computers in the world. If they want to eliminate PVC at their own behest, that's one thing, but to do it in order to avoid browbeating from a group that spends their time telling everyone else how to live is just rich. I'll bet Greenpeace is loaded with Apple products but does this just for publicity because they know if they go "boo" Apple will jump.

Any chance of Qualifying the Greenpeace hating that seems to soil your otherwise objective view on tech issues ?

Why should I care about what Greenpeace says?
I don't.
